Steven Rall Widmann, 68, a beloved husband, father, and esteemed professional, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at his home in Temple, Texas. He was born on September 7, 1955, in Milwaukee, WI to Frank Widmann and Mary- Ellin (Giffen) Simmons.
Steve's remarkable career spanned various fields and showcased his exceptional talent and dedication. Steve's passion for journalism led him to Channel 12 News KPNX as a newsroom manager. Concurrently, he taught Broadcasting at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. In 1998, he completed graduate internships and assistantships as an instructional developer/designer at Intel Corporation in Chandler, Arizona. He then pivoted his career path and became a web developer at Eastern Maine Medical Center before settling in Texas. There, he worked at CitiBank as the Vice President of Digital Self-Serving and Senior Program Management Analyst until his well-deserved retirement.
Education played a significant role in Steve's life. He graduated from McClintock High School in Tempe, AZ. Steve furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor's of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Arizona State University. Additionally, he pursued a Master's of Education in Educational Media and Computers.
Steve had an endless sense of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. He possessed an extraordinary personality that endeared him to all who knew him. His wit, humor, compassion, and humility touched everyone he encountered. Steve had an innate ability to see the best in people and was able to approach even the most difficult situations with a sense of compassion and empathy. Furthermore, Steve had a remarkable passion for music, whether it was playing his guitar, watching musicals, or listening to a diverse selection of albums. Some of his favorite bands included Miami Sound Machine, Eagles, and The Beatles
Apart from his professional pursuits, Steve embraced numerous hobbies and interests throughout his life. He served as the Chapter President of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter from 1991 to 1993. Steve was also a member of the Press Club, Top Well Done, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Steve's proudest accomplishments were a testament to his dedication and outstanding character. He organized the largest CPR and life skills event in Arizona, known as "Life Saver Saturday." As a devoted family man, Steve held his three sons closest to his heart. His strong work ethic garnered him numerous awards and honors, including Outstanding Customer Service Awards, Social Community Service Awards, EMMY Award nominee and winner, and Assistant Award Winner. Additionally, Steve took great pride in obtaining his private pilot license and being one of the first individuals to stream online concerts when the internet was just emerging.
Steve was predeceased by his loving father, Frank Widmann. He is survived by his mother, Mary-Ellin Simmons; his cherished wife of 31 years, Deena Widmann; three adoring sons: Dustin Widmann, Konnor Widmann, and Garrett Widmann; two beloved daughters-in-law: Julie Widmann and Karen Widmann; and his two precious grandchildren: Keenan Widmann and Ruby Widmann.
In celebrating Steven Rall Widmann's remarkable life, let us remember him for his unwavering dedication to family, his immense professional achievements, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial will be held in his honor on March 23rd at 10:00 am at Young's Daughters Funeral Home and Bereavement Center, 4235 U.S. Hwy 190, Temple, TX 76501.
