REGNER CAPENER

Mr. Regner “Reg” Alvin Capener, 79, went home to be with our heavenly Father on Thursday, July 8, 2021.  He was home at the time, surrounded by his loving family.

A small private service will be held in honor of Reg, July 13, 2021.

“I will enter into His gates with thanksgiving in my heart, I will enter His courts with praise” (Psalm 100:4)

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever” (Isiah 26:3-4)

Reg was born to missionary parents Alvin and Lillian Lorraine Capener, in Astoria, Oregon on April 18, 1942 and raised in Eskimo villages in the great state of Alaska.  In honor of Reg’s final request, he will be laid to rest in Alaska, along side his adoring parents, Alvin and Lillian.

“I am gathered to my people, bury me with my fathers” (Genesis 49:29)

As a Pastor, inventor, engineer, author, publisher, musician, gifted praise and worship leader and song writer, Reg was dedicated to ministry, praise and worship, translating the word of God found in Greek scripture and at all times a passionate scholar of theology.  At just 18 years of age he enlisted in the US Army, where he found his passion and true calling for ministry and becoming a Pastor.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)

Reg’s heart after God not only led him to complete course work at the University of Nebraska, Southwestern College, Bethany Bible College, and the renown Fuller Theological Seminary, but some might say that same heart after God blessed him mightily by leading him to his true love, Della.  Reg and Della were married in 1983, together uniting their families, raising eight wonderful children.

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing.  And obtains favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22)

Sharing the word of God through his ministries, Reg was invited to speak and perform worship music the world over, accomplished in playing some 70 instruments he was able to play hundreds, perhaps even thousands of songs from memory alone, one after the other, without lyrics or sheet music.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that a man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Reg led a blessed life, rich in happiness, full of love, loved ones, friendships, and unique accomplishments.  He excelled in engineering positions at KTBY-TV, Action School of Broadcasting, KHOF-FM and Lockheed Missiles and Space Company.  He was known for his writing and publishing of “A Tale of Two Brides”, building radio and television stations, inventing many broadcasting and electronic instruments, and has been recognized a total of 42 times in the Marquis Who's Who in America, Who’s Who in Religion, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who in the World.  Reg humbly attributes all of his success in life to his mentor, his father, Alvin.

Founder and Pastor of Capener Ministries and The River Worship Center in Sunnyside, Washington, Reg’s heart after God gave him a special passion for people, he could lighten a room with his music or by offering that positive spark that would lighten anyone's day, even those who may have been carrying a heavy heart.

“You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand and it gives light to all in the house” (Matthew 5:14-16)

While Reg is now home, he is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Della Capener; two sons: Christian Capener and former wife Chelsea, Joshua Luther and wife Michelle; six daughters: Shelley Luther, Danielle Picasso and husband Anthony, Rebekah Luther and fiancé Eracleo Corona, Debbie Capener, Melody Capener, and Ariella Capener. He has twenty-seven grandchildren: Raymond Luther, Emilio Mireles, Vicente Mireles, Sophia Mireles, Gabriel Mireles III, Kimberly Mireles, Anthony A Picasso, Joseph Picasso, Adrianna Torres, Jose Torres Jr, Pedro Mirelez Jr, Serena Mirelez, Jessica Mirelez, Ebony Corona, Leo Corona, Erik Corona, Jasmin Luther Capener, Aiden Luther Capener, Elijah Luther Capener, Trinity Luther Capener, Dezmond Smith, Michael DeSalle (Cyrus), Travon Braswell, Savannah Capener, Jake Capener, Kyle Capener and Christian Capener. He also has the blessing of having numerous great-grandchildren: Raiden Smith, Dominick Cruz, Olivia Cruz, Violet Cruz, Anayah Perez, Yuleni Torres, Jose Torres III, Liam Corona, Angelia Luther, Destiny Luther, Maritza Luther, Jayden Luther, Raymond Luther Jr, Abigail Luther, Raymond Luther III, Emilio J Mireles, Carmen Mireles, Naelynn Mireles, Able Mireles, Melanie Mireles, Gabriel Mireles IV and Christopher Mireles Gabriel.

“That in blessing, I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore” (Genesis 22:17)

In addition to his parents, Reg was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Barrows.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Veterans Administration for their special care and Ekklesia (a Greek word translated in the New Testament as "church." It comes from ek, meaning "out from and to" and kaleo, meaning "to call," and has to do with a group of people called out from one place to another, as an assembly or congregation).

“O Lord, You are my God.  I will exalt you. I will praise Your name.  For you have done wonderful things” (Isiah 25:1)

“His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things.  Enter into the joy of your Lord.’” (Matthew 25:21)
