Patricia Louise Kernes

December 6, 1942 — December 29, 2024

Killeen

Patricia Louise Kernes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on December 6, 1942, in Compton, California, she was the daughter of Glen and Jean (McQuillan) Mowrer and graduated from Norbon High School. Her pursuit of further education led her to Harbor College, where she earned her associates degree in Secretarial and Office Management.

Patricia's career was marked by determination and dedication. She began her professional journey at Boeing Corporation, where she worked as an executive secretary from 1978 to 1980. Following this position, she transferred to Northrup, where she dedicated the next ten years of her life until her retirement.

As a single mother, Patricia raised her two sons, Robert Lee Kernes Jr. and John Douglas Kernes Sr., with immense love and commitment. She supported her sons. Patricia's greatest pride came from being a loving mother and grandmother, where she instilled values of honesty, independence, and treating others with kindness. She often reminded her family, "It's a bad moment, not a bad life."

Known affectionately as "Grandma," Patricia had a nurturing spirit that endeared her to many. She cherished her role as a grandmother to five grandchildren: Donna Holmes, John Jr. Kernes, Patricia Kernes, Robert III Kernes, and Penelope Kernes, as well as four great-grandchildren: Robert IV Kernes, William Kernes, Harley Kernes, and Selena Kernes. Her family expanded further with her loving dog Sweetpea always by her side.

Patricia was known for her feisty personality and a spirited love for her family. She took pride in her hobbies, which included baking, collecting snowglobes and cardinals, and creating custom clothing for her loved ones. Her fondness for the color green was evident in the apparel she adorned her family with and reflected in the various cars she owned over the years.

She leaves behind her two sons, Robert Lee Kernes Jr. and John Douglas Kernes Sr., along with his wife, Julie Ann; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a loving dog. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Jean Mowrer, and one sister, Barbara Leber.

Patricia Louise Kernes will be remembered not only for her professional achievements but also for the strength and love that she shared with her family throughout her life. Her legacy will continue through the lessons she imparted and the memories she created with those who loved her dearly.
