Oso Brave Perry, a beloved family member and four-legged friend, graced this world with her presence on November 23, 2014, in China Springs, Texas. From the moment she entered her adoptive home at just six weeks old along with her fur brother Kane. Oso captured the hearts of everyone around her with her playful spirit and gentle demeanor. Oso’s journey, however, came to an unexpected close on January 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy.
From her earliest days, it was evident that Oso had a special connection with children. She took particular delight in the companionship of her little human friend, Wesley Morris, who would often join her for playtime in her cozy crate. Together, they created treasured memories filled with laughter and warmth—a bond that illuminated the lives of all who witnessed their friendship.
Oso's adventurous spirit shone brightly during family outings, particularly on her unforgettable trip to New Mexico, where she reveled in the joy of playing in the snow alongside her fur brother, King Worf. Known for her love of ice, she could often be found eagerly waiting in the kitchen, hopeful for a tasty treat. Her demeanor was always calm and composed; she never barked without cause and charmed everyone with her polite and ladylike behavior, especially during visits to the vet, where she was a perfect example of what a loving companion could be.
As a proud German Shepherd, Oso was a sizeable, striking presence; her striking appearance turned heads wherever she went. Despite her stature, she understood the importance of dispelling myths about big dogs, proving time and again that they could be sweet and gentle. Affectionately known as "SASSY Oso Brave," she embodied her name, meaning "Bear" in Spanish—her contented sounds during ear scratches or brushing echoing that of a contented bear enjoying the warm sun. Kane sadly passed on a couple of months before he was to turn 2 years old of double bone and lung cancer. Oso grieved for the loss of her brother immensely.
Each evening, Oso brought joy to her family by snuggling into their bed, a routine she maintained since her arrival home. Her fur siblings, Noni's Zarabelle and King Worf, cherished her companionship deeply and feel an undeniable void in her absence. Her infectious curiosity knew no bounds, and she had a unique way of ensuring she was involved in all activities; her signature "Oso go over" greeting welcomed every visitor with a warm, inquisitive nuzzle, ensuring that no one left without a small dose of her loving nature.
While her time with us was far too brief, Oso Brave Perry's memory will forever fill our hearts with warmth. She taught her family and community that love knows no bounds and that every moment should be cherished. Though she has crossed the rainbow bridge, her spirit continues to thrive in the joyful memories we hold dear. Oso will be missed terribly by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and adventure will remain a guiding light, a reminder of the immense depth of companionship that only a dog can bring.
Those who are left behind to cherish her memory are her human parents, Chris and Brenda Perry; her fur siblings, King Worf, Noni Zarabelle, Kimberly Choat Snyder, and Azariah Perry. Until we meet again, My Sassy Oso Brave
