Melanie Anne Schirmer

Services for Melanie Anne Schirmer (Freeman), 48, of Troy, will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Temple Bible Church with Pastor Chase Bowers officiating.

Melanie Anne Schirmer died on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at a local hospital. 

Melanie was born on December 08, 1973 to David Freeman and Tricia Lynn Brean in Hayward, California.  She was raised in Livermore, California and graduated from Granada High School in 1991.  Melanie first worked at Keystone with disabled adults, but she was a proud mother and later became a secretary for a family owned company, Legacy Pest Control, in Layton, Utah.  She moved to Texas in 2010 where she worked at Curves as a supervisor. In 2015 she started working at JRBT as a Benefit Specialist.  She met the love of her life Olaf in August 2014 and later went on to get married in 2018.  Melanie loved crafting and making car freshies and T-shirts. She loved watching Walking Dead, The Voice, and Yellowstone with her family. She had 2 cats and 2 dogs who she loved dearly.  Melanie loved Prince and Chris Stapleton.  Melanie was a homebody and believed that a life lesson was to surround yourself with people who treat you the way you deserve.  Melanie always said “living a happy life is more important than having a bunch of money.”

Melanie is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Olaf Schirmer, 3 step-sons, James Sellers, Jared Schirmer, and Josef Schirmer, and 3 daughters, Sarah Romer, Rachel Romer, and Ashlyn Romer. She is also survived by 1 half-brother, Gary Brown, two half-sisters, Mandie Freeman Morris and Tamara Freeman Morris, and 2 step-sisters, Michelle Divecchia Hawk and Kristi Divecchia Engkvist.
