Marie Evelyn Hester

Marie Evelyn Sullivan Hester, fondly known as Mimi, passed away November 18, 2023. A proud Irishwoman, she lived a remarkable 101 years and a was vibrant and spirited character to the end. Born in 1922 in Alliance, Ohio, Marie was one of 6 children of the late William James Sullivan and Bridget Alice Hare Sullivan. She witnessed the Great Depression and had many memories of helping her mother feed the hungry. She attended Alliance High School and was voted by the student body to serve as the Football Queen in 1940. Marie had several interesting professions, including working as a secretary on Capitol Hill for Senator Robert A. Taft of Ohio and as a cross-country tour bus guide. In 1985, she moved to Cedar Park, Texas to be near her daughter and grandchildren. At age 89, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting her ancestral homeland of Ireland. Marie enjoyed oil painting, reading, and sewing, but most of all, spending time with her family. 

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; her husband of 28 years Warren Edward Hester; and her beloved daughter, Carol Hanst Clark in 2022. Marie leaves behind her son, Mike and wife Judi; step-daughter Marsha Cetta and husband Mike; grandsons, J.R. Clark and Beau Clark; a granddaughter, Leigh Anne Clark and husband Dion; and two great-granddaughters, Ryleigh Preuitt and Regan Ciccarelli.
