Services for Marcello Antonio Mungia Sr. "Chilli”, 76, of Temple will be held at 2:00 pm at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Chamberlain in Temple on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be a meal following the graveside at Seaton Star Hall #47.
Marcello A. Mungia died on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at a local hospital.
Marcello Antonio Mungia "Chilli" was born on May 27, 1946 to Simon Mungia Jr., and Estella (Martinez) Mungia in Yorktown, Texas. Growing up in the Troy area he attended Troy High School. He met his first wife, Noemi Perez in 1966 where he became a proud father to his two children; Rebecca and Macello Jr ,. In 1976 he met and married Augustina Sanchez and together had their baby girl, Marina Mungia. He worked for a signage company in Temple, Texas for 25 years. He then took a new position with McClane food service which renamed to PFG till his retirement in 2008. "Chilli" was a hard worker and encouraged his children to work hard till they just weren't able to work. His children remember him as being the kind, comedian, and diligent father. His life lessons were "Life Goes On", Be The Man You Need To Be" and “Always be good to people”. His hobbies included watching western movies and shows to include Bonanaza, John Wayne, and Gun Smoke. Collecting classic cars and showing his affection through buying shoes for those he loved. He would be seen mowing the lawn and tending to his flowers. He proudly raised his children to be strong willed, independent and not needing to rely on others.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Augustina Sanchez Mungia; brother, Johnny Mungia.
Survivors include his son, Marcello Mungia Jr. and wife Veronica; two daughters, Becky Flores and her husband Fernando, Marina Mungia; one sister, Mary Bush and her husband John; along with four grandchildren, Anthony Rodriguez, Jonathan Flores, Paul Anthony Mungia, Alyssa Brooke Mungia; five great grandchildren, Raiden Rodriguez, Rowan Rodriguez, Reece Rodriguez, Mia Mungia, Amelia Mungia.
A special thank you to; Enhabit Home Health, Dr. Idoux and his staff at the dialysis center .The medical ICU of Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm with testimony hour at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Young's Daughters Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sabrina N. Young of Young's Daughters Funeral Home and Bereavement Center.
