Julia Hunault Trevino

Visitation and services for Julia Hunault (Uribe) Trevino, 76, of Temple will be held privately through Young's Daughters Funeral Home.  

Julia Hunault Trevino, a beloved educator and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home residence on October 9, 2023. Julia's dedication to her profession and love for her family and friends will forever be remembered and celebrated.

Born on January 28, 1947 in Alice, Texas, Julia was the daughter of Mr. Jesus Diaz Uribe and Micheline Hunault Uribe. She grew up with a zest for life and a love for learning that would shape her future endeavors. Julia excelled in both academics and extracurricular activities during her high school years. As a cheerleader and member of the band at Agua Dulce High School, she brought joy and enthusiasm to every spirited occasion.

Julia's thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education after high school. She obtained a Bachelor's degree from Texas A&I in Kingsville.  In 1984, She proudly received a Master's degree in Education Administration from Texas A & M. Her commitment to lifelong learning set an inspiring example to her family, children, students and colleagues throughout her career.

With an unwavering passion for teaching, Julia began her professional journey as a student teacher for Belton ISD. She then spent many fulfilling years at Western Hills Elementary School in Temple before relocating to Houston. Julia continued shaping young minds as she taught for Houston ISD and Klein ISD until her retirement after an impressive 28 years in 2003. Her dedication to education made a lasting impact on countless students who will forever remember her guidance and support.

Beyond the classroom, Julia was known for being an avid Aggie fan. Every year, she eagerly looked forward to the games and would often attend them in her travel RV, filled with laughter and cherished memories. Julia's playful and devoted personality shone through as she cheered on her beloved Aggies.

In addition to her passion for teaching and Aggie sports, Julia had a wide range of hobbies.  She enjoyed spending time in her garden, and found great joy in sewing and various crafting projects. Julia's culinary skills were well-known among her loved ones as she delighted everyone with her mouthwatering cheesecakes, chicken spaghetti, and lasagna.

Julia was also a loving wife to Romeo (R.T.) Trevino for a remarkable 55 years. Their marriage was a testament to the power of commitment, support, and unwavering love. Julia stood beside Romeo throughout his military service in honor of his career while continuing to pursue her own passion for teaching.

Above all else, Julia was most proud of her family. Her dedication to their happiness was unwavering. She followed her children and attended all their activities and functions with a beaming smile on her face. Survived by three daughters - Michelle Cunningham and husband Casey, Tammy Phillips and husband Markham, Leslie Kliethermes and husband Ken; nine grandchildren - Chip and Meredith Cunningham, Austin and Mary Cunningham, Waylon and Mariana Cunningham, Stephanie and Garrett Wallace, Ryan Oliver, Katheryn and Todd Cristo, Regan and Mason Jeffers, Harrison Kliethermes, Grant Kliethermes; and eight great-grandchildren - Stevie Wallace, Cooper Wallace, Charlie Cunningham, Jack Cunningham, Adalynn Oswald, Kinsley Spire, Brylen Christo, and Cade Christo - Julia leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire future generations.

In this time of mourning, we remember the wonderful memories we shared with Julia Hunault Trevino. Her loving nature, playful spirit, teasing humor, unwavering supportiveness, commitment to family values, and pride in her loved ones will forever be etched in our hearts.

Julia Hunault Trevino will be deeply missed, but her impact on the lives of those she touched will continue to shine brightly. Her memory will live on as an inspiration to us all.
