James “Jim” Alan McNeill passed away at his home in Heidenheimer, TX on 8/1/2024. Jim was born on 7/11/1947 at King’s Daughters Hospital to C.E. “Buck” McNeill and Frances Hejl McNeill, the third of six children. He attended school in Buckholts, TX and graduated in 1965. He met and married Rebecca Fisher of Temple, TX in September 1967, with whom he had three daughters. They lived in Academy, TX between 1970 until 1989, when they built their dream home in Heidenheimer, TX and shared for 35 years.
Jim became a skilled tool and die maker, working for Hansen’s, Grinnell, Permocast and Temple Tag. He received his degree in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. After years of developing his knowledge and experience, he opened a successful business named Jimco Tool & Machine in 1985, which he continued to operate until his death. Jim enjoyed playing lottery and casino games, bantering with telemarketers, and playing with his dogs, Dixie and JoJo. He had a generous spirit and helped many people over the years.
He is survived by his brothers C.E. “Jack” McNeill and Terry McNeill both of Rogers, TX, and sisters Debra Hewitt of Frisco, TX and Susan Williams of Sparks, TX. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, and daughters Kathy Martin of Temple, TX, Jennifer McNeill of Livonia, MI and Kimberly Simmons of Boerne, TX, grandchildren Evan Martin of Temple, TX, Madeline Martin of Decatur, TX, Rachel Simmons and Lily Simmons, of Boerne, TX.
Visitation will be held at Young’s Daughters Funeral Home, 4235 US Hwy 190, Temple, TX on Wednesday, 8/7/2024 from 6 – 8 PM. Funeral services will be on Thursday, 8/8/2024 at 10 AM at First Methodist Church of Temple, 102 N. 2nd St, Temple, TX, with a reception following at the church. Pallbearers are Mark Hoelscher, Sebastian Hix, John Hubbard, John Snow, Charles Obermiller, and Christopher McNeill.
