Cal Edward Schroeder

September 5, 1963 — September 15, 2024

Temple, Texas

Cal Edward Schroeder was the most magnificent man there ever was.  He is loved and missed by so many. It's hard to know how many lives he touched and changed for the better along his journey. There were many to be sure. He passed his test on earth with flying colors and graduated to the afterlife 10 days after his 61st birthday. He and his wife Kimberly had just shared their 30th anniversary together in June, playing on the beach and fishing in Destin, Florida. They cherished their time spent together.

Sweet Cal suddenly departed on Sunday morning, September 15th, in Temple, TX, from a massive coronary event.

Cal loved sharing coffee with his wife on their back porch surrounded by flowers, dragonflies, butterflies and hummingbirds - just as he was on Sunday morning when the Lord called him home.

Cal was such a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to raise up his following generations.  His love will reside eternally in the hearts of each and every person who truly knew him. Cal was the epitome of a pure heart.

Earlier in Cal's life, he had been an unparalleled athlete at Blue Earth High School in Minnesota where his family originated.  He played excellent football, but his first love was always pitching baseball.

He was a big growly southpaw who gleefully took out many a batter in the box. He played and won a perfect game. He also enjoyed his time on the Texas Rangers farm team until an elbow injury took him out of the game.

He spent his entire work career in the corrugated industry, starting out on the floor at Jefferson Smurfit in Fort Worth, TX.  He quickly rose to the position of plant scheduler once his employer recognized how incredible he was with numbers.  He loved to compete by racing and beating the one punching buttons on the calculator.  He was exceptional with mathmatical computations and being able to foresee issues before they arose.

Cal excitedly joined the Schwarz Group in Temple, TX, during the summer of 2018. He wanted nothing more than to work for a company that truly typified family values.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Cal was passionate about coaching youth sports, instilling discipline and teamwork in the young athletes of Katy, Texas. He dedicated his time to his children and their teammates playing baseball, softball, basketball, and football. The impact he made on the lives of these young athletes reflects his commitment to nurturing future generations.

Cal's interests extended beyond coaching; he found joy in golfing, fishing, exploring the country with his wife and being a Foodie.  When he went on vacation, he had already researched and planned where he and Kimberly would be dining!  He also shared his love of flavor through cooking up mind-blowing dishes and fresh salsas for his friends and loved ones.

An amazing poet and writer, he created an epic poem called Squire T along with many heartfelt love poems to his wife.  His writings captured the essence of his emotional depth and creativity. This artistic deepness brought joy not only to himself, but to all those near and dear to him.  He was a simple man with magical depth.

He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly Schroeder, the greatest love of his life, with whom he shared many joyous moments. Together, they built a close- knit loving family that encompasses three children and their spouses: Jonathan and Alyssa McDavid, Jennifer and Axel Dooley, and Kally Schroeder and Haden McCarty. Cal was especially proud of his nine grandchildren—Axel Jayden, Reighly, Landen, Carsen, Jace, Aurora, Madilyn, Lester, and Johnny—each of whom he adored beyond explanation. Feel free to ask anyone that worked with him.

Cal was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Richard Schroeder, and his brother, Lane Schroeder. His niece, Ruthie Schroeder, and his very beloved cousin, Ed Wild, survive him and miss him terribly.

While he has departed from this earthly life, Cal's memory will live on in the love he manifested and the relationships he fostered. He will be remembered as the most loyal, faithful, hard-working, and loving man—a truly remarkable individual whose influence will resonate through all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He loved you and he'd want you to remember:

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him. Nahum 1:7
