Apolonia Calixtro, de 87 años, una católica devota y devota, falleció pacíficamente en su casa en Belton, Texas, el martes 13 de febrero de 2024. Estaba rodeada del amor de su familia mientras se embarcaba en su viaje eterno.

Su compromiso con su religión fue inquebrantable e inculcó esta devoción en su familia, asegurándose de que encontraran consuelo y guía en el Señor.

Apolonia tenía una pasión por la oración incomparable. Pasaría innumerables horas conectándose con Dios a través de sus prácticas espirituales. El rosario ocupaba un lugar especial en su corazón y lo recitaba fielmente tres veces al día como parte de su rutina. Su dedicación a la oración fue un testimonio de su fe inquebrantable en ella. Le encantaba ir al santuario de Atotonilco en Guanajuato, México.

Una de las mayores alegrías de la vida de Apolonia fue asistir a la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Temple, Texas. Encontró consuelo y fuerza dentro de los muros de la iglesia y apreciaba el sentido de comunidad que brindaba. La estricta adherencia de Apolonia a sus creencias religiosas moldeó su carácter y sirvió de inspiración para todos aquellos que la conocieron.

Además de su devoción a la fe, Apolonia encontró alegría en los placeres sencillos de la vida. Tenía un profundo aprecio por la naturaleza y se deleitaba observando sus maravillas. Los mirtos de color rosa claro estaban entre sus favoritos y se maravilló de su belleza. Ver a las ardillas interactuar y observar aves en busca de cardenales le trajo paz y serenidad.

En su juventud en México, Apolonia descubrió la pasión por la crianza de cabras. Ella puso su corazón en el cuidado de estos animales y encontró satisfacción al criarlos. Esta experiencia ejemplificó su naturaleza protectora y su capacidad para encontrar alegría incluso en las cosas más simples.

El logro del que Apolonia estaba más orgullosa fue asegurarse de que todos sus hijos se casaran por la iglesia. A lo largo de su vida, mantuvo este objetivo cerca de su corazón y trabajó incansablemente para hacerlo realidad. Su dedicación a defender los valores del matrimonio y la familia fue un testimonio de su amor y compromiso inquebrantables.

Apolonia ahora se une a sus seres queridos que la precedieron. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Canuto Calixtro y Alejandra Castillo, así como su amado esposo durante 62 años, Juan Gutiérrez Martínez. Sus tres hijos, Celestino Gutiérrez, Maximino Gutiérrez y Braulio Gutiérrez, y tres hermanas, Presiliana Calixtro, Demetria Calixtro y Gonzala Calixtro, Cinco hermanos, Florencio Calixtro, Zenovio Calixtro, Zenón Calixtro, Luis Calixtro, Ángel Calixtro.

Deja un legado duradero a través de sus familiares y amigos supervivientes. A Apolonia le sobreviven cuatro hijos: Agapito Gutiérrez Calixtro (Evodia), Miguel Gutiérrez Calixtro (Catalina), Aquileo Gutiérrez Calixtro (Celerina) y Meregildo Gutiérrez Calixtro (América). Su recuerdo también lo llevan sus cinco hijas: Pía Gutiérrez Calixtro, Epifania Huerta (Filomeno), Eugena Ledezma (Lindolfo), Flora Castillo (Rubén) y Felipa Castillo (Jamie). También le sobrevive su hermano Tiodolo Calixtro. El legado de Apolonia se extiende a veinte nietas, quince nietos y treinta y cinco bisnietos.

Para honrar la vida de Apolonia y celebrar el impacto que tuvo en las vidas de quienes la rodean, se han organizado varios servicios. Se llevará a cabo una misa el martes 20 de febrero de 2024 en Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Temple, Texas. La misa comenzará a las 10:00 a. m. y el entierro seguirá en procesión hasta el cementerio de Moffatt.

También se llevará a cabo un servicio de visitas el lunes 19 de febrero de 2024, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. en Young's Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center en Temple. Después de la visita, se iniciará un servicio de oración de 7:00 pm a 8:00 pm en el mismo lugar.

Extrañaremos profundamente la presencia de Apolonia Calixtro entre nosotros, pero su espíritu de ella y su fe inquebrantable continuarán inspirando a todos aquellos que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla. Ella deja un legado de amor, devoción y fe profunda que sirve como guía para todos nosotros. Que encuentre la paz eterna en el abrazo del Señor que tanto apreciaba.

Apolonia Calixtro, 87,  a devout and devoted Catholic, passed away peacefully at her home in Belton, Texas on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was surrounded the love of her family as she embarked on her eternal journey.

Born on April 9, 1936, in Mexico, Apolonia led a life grounded in faith and spirituality. From an early age, she developed a deep connection to the Virgen Del Carmen, adorning her surroundings with rosaries and images of the saints. Her commitment to her religion was unwavering and she instilled this devotion in her family, ensuring that they found solace and guidance in the Lord.

Apolonia had a passion for prayer that was unparalleled. She would spend countless hours connecting with God through her spiritual practices. The rosary held a special place in her heart and she would faithfully recite it three times a day as part of her routine. Her dedication to prayer was a testament to her unwavering faith. She loved going to the sanctuary of Atotonilco in Guanajuato, Mexico. 

One of Apolonia's greatest joys in life was attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple, Texas. She found comfort and strength within the walls of the church and cherished the sense of community it provided. Apolonia's strict adherence to her religious beliefs shaped her character and served as an inspiration to all those who knew her.

Aside from her devotion to faith, Apolonia found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep appreciation for nature and took delight in observing its wonders. The light pink crepe myrtle trees were among her favorites and she marveled at their beauty. Watching squirrels interact and birdwatching for cardinals brought her peace and serenity.

In her younger years in Mexico, Apolonia discovered a passion for raising goats. She poured her heart into caring for these animals and found fulfillment in nurturing them. This experience exemplified her nurturing nature and her ability to find joy in even the simplest of things.

Apolonia's proudest accomplishment was ensuring that all her children were married by the church. Throughout her life, she held this goal close to her heart and worked tirelessly to make it a reality. Her dedication to upholding the values of marriage and family was a testament to her unwavering love and commitment.

Apolonia now joins her loved ones who have gone before her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Canuto Calixtro and Alejandra Castillo, as well as her beloved husband of 62 years, Juan Gutierrez Martinez. Her three sons, Celestino Gutierrez, Maximino Gutierrez, and Braulio Gutierrez, and three sisters, Presiliana Calixtro, Demetria Calixtro, and Gonzala Calixtro, Five brothers, Florencio Calixtro, Zenovio Calixtro, Zenon Calixtro, Luis Calixtro, Angel Calixtro. 

She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her surviving family and friends. Apolonia is survived by four sons: Agapito Gutierrez Calixtro (Evodia), Miguel Gutierrez Calixtro (Catalina), Aquileo Gutierrez Calixtro (Celerina), and Meregildo Gutierrez Calixtro (America). Her memory is also carried on by her five daughters: Pia Gutierrez Calixtro, Epifania Huerta (Filomeno), Eugena Ledezma (Lindolfo), Flora Castillo (Ruben), and Felipa Castillo (Jamie). She is survived by her brother Tiodolo Calixtro as well. Apolonia's legacy extends to twenty granddaughters, fifteen grandsons, and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

To honor Apolonia's life and celebrate the impact she had on the lives of those around her, various services have been arranged. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Temple, Texas. The mass will begin at 10:00 am, with burial to follow in procession to Moffatt Cemetery 

A visitation service will also be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Young's Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center in Temple. Following the visitation, a prayer service will commence from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the same location.

Apolonia Calixtro's presence among us will be sorely missed, but her spirit and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and deep faith that serves as a guiding light for us all. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of the Lord she cherished so dearly.
